Tampa Bay

Here are some pictures I've taken around the bay area.

Tampa Skyline

This is a picture of the Tampa skyline as viewed from the opposite side of Hillsborough River. A kid from St. Pete recently flew a Cessna into the Barnett Bank building (just to the right of the cylindrical one).

Henry B. Plant Museum

This used to be a resort hotel and one of the first vacation hotspots in Florida. Its unusual architecture makes it a worthwhile visit. Be sure to walk around inside to see all of the crazy decor.

Winnebago Kid

As we were driving to Fort Desoto this kid in the back of a Winnebago starting putting on a show for us. It was a riot!

Fort Desoto

There was a lot of cool concrete bunkers to check out when we got there. There was these giant guns that were placed there to fire upon ships. This is a picture of Michelle, Morgan, Patrick and Joel.

Looking Out

This is the view out over Tampa Bay and the Gulf from Fort Desoto. Apparently, the American Troops were sent here to watch for enemy ships during the Spanish American War. I think it also had some significance during at least one of the world wars.

Joel at Fort Desoto

This is my friend Joel. This picture was taken down in the ammunition bunker. It turned out to be a bit artsy don't you think?

Hillsborough River

Our friend Jerry tooks us Canoeing one day. It was about a 7 mile trip along the river. The water moved very slowly and we got to see several alligators along the way.

Me and Jon

Jon and I were in one canoe, Patrick and Jerry were in the other. Since we didn't have a camera, we didn't get any pictures of them. We packed a lunch and other supplies to make our trip worthwhile.
