Playing Music

These are pictures of the people I've played music with, as well as the various instruments I have used.

My friends Richard and Lewis and I started a band in high school to perform at the talent show. Lewis named the band After Image and we struggled to learn a handful of songs including Too Fast For Love, Smokin' In The Boys Room and Why Can't This Be Love. We won first place. This picture was taken on top of the earthen damn at the Tompkinsville City Lake in Kentucky.

Here is a picture of Lewis and I. This is probably the longest my hair has ever been.

Garage Band

Sometimes we practiced in my garage. Our equipment was pretty meager at the time--neither Lewis or I had proper guitar amplifiers, so I rigged us up some sound based on aging stereo equipment.

Motive8

When I started my first full-time job in Lexington, I joined up with a band called Motive8 playing keyboards. We used to practice in a small storage space down on the dragstrip in Nicholasville. We never actually got to play any gigs, but we sounded great.

Bottom to top: Roland JX-3P, Kawai K1, Casio CZ-101, SIEL Expander 80, Voyce LX4.

My Studio in Brandon

When I was renting the house in Brandon, I had an entire room that I dedicated to my musical instruments. By that time, as you can tell, I had accumulated quite a selection of new and vintage synthesizers.

Clockwise starting in front: Oberheim Xk, Hammond M1, Roland MC100, Korg Poly-61M, Roland JX-3P, Korg DW-8000, Rhodes Chroma Polaris, Roland D70, Sequential Max, Moog Source, and Roland Jupiter 8.

Red Room

I had to scale down significantly after moving to Pittsburgh. Though most of my synthesizers were in storage at this point, I did have this cool little setup while living in an apartment building on Negley. Yes, that's a Chapman Stick.

Left to Right: Korg X5, Alesis MMT-8, Roland SE-50, Chapman Stick, Mackie 1202, QMIX HR6, Peavey MIDI Master II (broken), Rane 6ch Stereo Mixer, Furman Patchbay, Peavey AddVerb II, Peavey Spectrum Synth, 2 x Kawai K1r Synths, and Oberheim Matrix 1000.
